The Island Cyprus is situated at the eastern part of the Mediterranean basin. It’s the third largest of all Mediterranean Island’s, ranking in size after Sicily and Sardinia. Its area is 9.251 square kilometres, stretching 240 km from west to east and 96 km from north to south.
The islands population is approximately 850.000. Due to its geographic location at the crossroads of 3 continents: Asia, Africa and Europe. It is the meeting point of several great civilizations and the influence of these civilizations has shaped its people, its charm, its history and its hospitality.
History
The history of Cyprus is one of the oldest in the world and dates back to the 7th century B/C. The arrival of the Mycenaean Greeks at first, followed by the Achaean Greeks has given Cyprus the typical Greek character. The Island has four major cities, Nicosia as the Island’s Capital, then Larnaca as the Island’s main airport, than Limassol as the Islands main seaport and with Paphos as the Island’s youngest and fastest growing city.

Paphos enjoys the best climate and has the majority of archaeology on the island. With the nature reserve 'The Akamas' at its doorstep, Paphos has become the most interesting town. The People of Cyprus are a mixture of many trading nations on the Mediterranean. People are open, frank and friendly to foreigners. They are astute businessmen too. They will extend a warm welcome to you, always making you feel at home on the island.
Education
Education and Religion. Cyprus has a high standard of education. Schools and Universities still function with a high level of discipline. The island has several International Schools and also Paphos has a high standard at the International School in the city. The main religion on the island is Greek Orthodox. The island is covered with the most beautiful, picturesque, and historical buildings and also newly built churches. International Relations. Climate & Temperature
